Edward Tulane is a china rabbit that belongs to a sweet, ten-year-old named Abilene Tulane. The problem is, Edward admires himself too much to appreciate Abilene, or the love and care that she so freely gives. Through a series of mishaps, Edward finds himself on an amazing journey of self-discovery and redemption which inevitably leads him to the most important discovery of all… the joys and sorrows of loving and being loved. This delightful and thought-provoking book written by Newbery Award winning author, Kate DiCamillo, includes excellent vocabulary and a beautiful, yet simplistic use of language that both young and old will enjoy.

There’s An Alligator Under My Bed is a story about a boy who finds an alligator under his bed. He is very quiet at bedtime, because he doesn’t want to wake the beast. Every time he gets scared, he calls his parents into his room. They never see the alligator. The boy decides it is up to him to get this animal out of the house. He puts a food trail from his bed all the way to the garage. He then waits for the alligator to come out. Before he knew it, the alligator CAME OUT TO EAT. The boy follows him until he gets to the garage and slams the door shut. He feels very relieved until he realizes that his dad will go into the garage when leaving for work. He writes his dad a note and posts it on the garage door.
This book is good for children. I think it makes them feel safe at bedtime. It also relives children’s fears. It makes their fears seem a more playful and fun. Even though I think this is a book for home, it can also be read to a class. Some children do not get books read to them at home. Maybe by reading this book to a class, you can relieve a child’s fears. All in all, this is a fun book for anyone to read and enjoy!

This book by Judi Barrett describes the town of Chewandswallow, where the weather comes three times a day, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and is always food and beverages. The rain is juice and soup, the snow is mashed potatoes, and the wind brings hamburgers. However, when floods and storms of food comes, the town must do something to survive.
I believe that this book is a great example of enchanted fantasy. The family begins in their normal home having pancakes, and are transported to another land of “Chewandswallow” where the adventures begin. In the end the story returns to its original plot.

The Dark Is Rising is actually the second book in a series entitled The Dark Is Rising. This particular book is about a young boy named Will who receives a mysterious pendant from an equally mysterious man, who also leaves the message, “Enjoy today. Tomorrow, on your birthday, all will be incredibly different.” Sure enough, Will awakes the next day in another time period where he meets the Old Ones. They tell Will that he is the one who is meant to have the power to send away the Dark with his phenomenal powers of the Light. Together, the warriors of the Light teach Will the skills of a mage and they are able to conquer over the battle with the Dark. This book is a great read for those who like stories about magic and timetravel.

Mr. Brown is a very interesting fellow. He can make all kinds of sounds. My favorite sound he makes is a hippopotamus chewing gum. He sounds like this, Grum Grum Grum Grum Grum Grum Grum! This book would be great for small children.

This is a neat story about Ma Brindle’s famous sweet dream pie. The town is a direct reflection of the pie. When the dough is rolled out, people roll out of bed. When the pie is in the oven, the town is sweltering hot. If you eat a little, you will have sweet dreams, but if you eat alot, you won’t sleep good at all. Pa Brindle and the rest of the town eat 4 and more slices and when they fall asleep, their bad dreams roam the streets. The only way peaceful sleep reaches everyone is when Ma Brindle sweeps their dreams up off the street.
