There is an amazing video series, available for free at the iTunes music store, that features popular children’s authors.  It’s available for download in video Podcast form.  I just watched the one on Peter Sis (The Wall, Madlenka, Tibet through the Red Road, etc.), who grew up in Prague and writes with an international conscience.  I was always curious about his story.  His most recent book, The Wall, talks about growing up behind the “Iron Curtain.”  I think it takes a brave artist to cover such a sensitive topic.  It’s much safer to write a story about a cuddly kitten or something.  Through watching the video, you get a better idea of who he is and why he writes what he writes.
